You’re lucky to have North York National Park on your doorstep. This means you and your dog can explore plenty of picturesque scenery. We are also very close to Dalby Forest, where long, winding paths can provide non-stop exercise for even the most energetic pup. If you’re looking for a fun day out with your dog with a historical twist, consider a visit to Pickering Castle. Used for centuries as a royal hunting lodge, mansion and stable by a succession of medieval kings, it is a must-see in the region. And what about visiting the Eden Camp Historical Museum? Visiting this unique museum, housed in the buildings and grounds of a WWII POW camp, will take you back to wartime Britain.

We are also well placed to go to the Yorkshire coast for a few days. In 30 minutes you can drive to the famous seaside towns of Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, Filey and Scarborough for some fresh air activities and water fun on the beaches! And did you know? North Bay Beach in Scarborough is a Blue Flag beach. This means it is one of the best in Europe in terms of sand and water cleanliness, facilities and safety! Filey is a great beach for families to explore together and has been voted one of the top 6 beaches in the world for families! There are many sculpture trails and interesting rock pools around the bay.

When you want to calm everything down, I recommend a trip to Wolds Way Lavender.  It’s a delight to walk through the fields of this unique lavender farm, complete with a distillery, tea room, shop and miniature railway!
