Best Dog Friendly Vacations – There’s something about January that makes me sit down at the calendar and plan a whole bunch of trips for the coming year. It’s so cold and dark outside, firing up a laptop and planning some adventures feels incredibly satisfying.

Although we’ve had to put our major international travel on hold during the pandemic, we’re loving getting to know the Seattle area again and all the wonderful (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. After living in NYC and Chicago for ten years, it’s been fun to come back and rediscover old vacation favorites, and check out all the new glamping sites, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs featured here. And most of all, I love seeing how many of them adopt dog-friendly options for your stay. I am happiest when Dave and Lizzie are with us on our holidays.

We’ve been doing a lot of getaway planning this month, so I thought I’d let you all take a look at my list of dog-friendly Pacific Northwest attractions we’re eyeing for 2022 adventures. I even dug through all the fine print and linked directly to the request policy on each option. The Best Dog-friendly Beaches In The Us

I would like to plan a trip to this wonderful space and event space near the beautiful Friday harbor, with several “dog friendly stalls for friendly dogs”. How amazing does that picture look? Bring your best friend for some wine country magic at one of our personal favorite area resorts. We have been taking weekend trips to Sagecliff since 2015, and it never disappoints. Hiking, wine tasting and sweeping views of the Columbia River Gorge make this a perfect dream getaway. Deets on their puppy policy here.

Captain Whidbey is at the top of my “list” for 2022. With recent features in publications like Vogue, this beautifully renovated historical haunt is popping up all over my Instagram feed, and I want to travel. . Walla Walla is one of the best wine regions in the country with over 120 wineries, so I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve been bookmarking this modern city center hotel for a while now as it’s a perfect base for a snow or wine weekend. Or both! A limited number of pet rooms are available upon request. We’ve blogged about how much we love Getaway’s tiny homes before, and we’re taking a look at the new Skagit Valley location. They are a perfect way to escape into nature while staying warm and dry. And how amazing is that bed window? Dogs are allowed for a fee – details here.

Honestly, The Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with the fire pits on the shore. Although this lodge on the Oregon Coast is a short drive from Seattle, the beautiful modern interiors and views of the Pacific Ocean make it worth the drive. We spent a perfect weekend at The Lodges on Vashon in January 2020 – and blogged about it here – and the memories carry me through the first few months of confinement. These designer-front 570-square-foot units offer amenities like private patios, fireplaces, and soaking tubs. Plus, they’re the perfect base camp for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hikes. The Pet Edit

I’ve been dreaming of getting my hands on one of these Insta-famous A-frames for far too long, and I’m determined to make it happen this year. Tye River Cabin Co. offers three different stunning A-frame cabins tucked away in the heart of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, and all accept pets for a fee. A word to the wise though – getting a reservation can be difficult as each of their amazing Insta posts get thousands of likes. Pet information is listed under each cabin detail.

We spent a wonderful Easter weekend in Semiahmoo in 2019, and I am looking for an opportunity to return to the beautiful landscapes and secluded beaches that Lizzie loves to explore. Just a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, this relaxing resort is a perfect base for great hikes and spectacular views of the Northern Washington coast. They are extremely dog-friendly, and puppies are welcomed with bowls, beds, and (at least during our visit) some souvenirs. Dog details here.

Travel back in time with a stay in one of these vintage trailers in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? Located in the Willamette Wine Country in the United States. The trailers include pour-over coffee, luxurious linens and luxurious bath robes. Puppies are allowed on Shasta Trailer, and they explain more details here.

Anacortes is one of my favorite outings from the city. Drive an hour and a half north of Seattle to this quaint downtown beach town with charming shops, delicious cafes and water views. (Watermark Book Co. is one of my favorite bookstores in Washington!) And we love the very prominent downtown inn, The Majestic, for its cozy guest rooms and amazing rooftop bar. I love unique vacations, and Winthrop’s Rolling Huts certainly delivers. These tiny houses were designed by Olson Kundig Architects in Seattle to be a modern alternative to camping. Go for a walk or just relax and soak up the amazing mountain views. Their Hotels.com listing has a pet policy listed under the “Fees and Policies” section.

This luxury resort on Hood Canal boasts that they’ve been hosting pups since 1913, and with a full menu of Fido-friendly amenities, we can believe it. Make memories by renting a kayak, hiking the trails, or just enjoying those views. Read the dog food here.

Okay, so it’s not technically available yet, but we’re signing up for notifications to get a reservation at the second launch of these beautiful camping trailers in the Olympic National Park. They offer kid-friendly comforts beyond the average camper while still providing a remote and sustainable way to get into nature. Two locations are slated to open soon in Washington, D.C., and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we can get a reservation for the summer. Their pet policy can be found in the FAQ section here.

I marveled at the beautiful new Water’s Edge Suites in this historic Orcas Island neighborhood, offering private balconies overlooking the bay. I can already see myself going down there with a book. If you follow us on Instagram, you know we rush a trip to Seabrook every chance we get. This picture-perfect beach town on Washington’s stunning Pacific Coast is honestly everything I look for in a vacation β€” a charming downtown with great shops and restaurants, plenty of rental options, and a sandy beach and virgin beach. Puppies are welcome in many rentals.

With beautiful views of Lake Washington, The Woodmark offers a blissful escape just a quick drive outside of downtown Seattle. Explore the shops and restaurants of downtown Kirkland, get out on the water or relax at the spa. Book the Woof, Wag and Worry Less package for your own puppy bowl, bed and special food. If you’ve never heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We stayed with them twice (in Vermont and on a trip to Maine that we blogged about here) and each trip was wonderful. Basically, they build luxury safari tents on amazing pieces of private land like this beautiful fruit farm near Mead, Washington. You can even choose to pay a little more to have one of their fruit tarts delivered to your seat or some of their farm-fresh eggs for a delicious alfresco run. More on Tentrr’s puppy policies here.

Granted, Idaho is a bit of a trip from Seattle, but we’ll drive any distance to stay in this breathtaking view. Plus, the little details like the on-site sauna and the old coffee grinder lit up my heart. Pets are allowed, although judging by the entrance stairs you should check if this is a fun holiday for you.
