I’m always looking for the best views where I live in Connecticut. And often drives to New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine for day or week trips.

Home to the rugged White Mountains (within the 800,000-acre White Mountain National Forest) that make up about a quarter of the state and 160.9 miles of the Appalachian Trail, there’s no shortage of amazing hikes here!
There are so many hikes in New Hampshire that two are even mentioned: NH 48 (48 mountains above 4,000 feet) and WAV 52 (52 mountains with a view!).
The White Mountains, NH 48 and 52 WAV programs have more tracks. But every show features some of New England’s best dancing.
From all of the above (I hope I didn’t bother you! ;)) let me list the best hiking trails in New Hampshire:
Visiting Trust Places With Your Dog
I have to lead this list of the best hikes in New England and be the king of them all! The tallest mountain in New England is Mount Washington at 6,288 feet.
Once you capture the outline of this beauty from a distance, you’ll love it. You can refer to it as Mount Washington that stands out from other peaks. There are many on this list and to be able to top it and say you did it is an achievement!
The most popular and best trails for this bad boy are the Tuckerman Ravine and Lion Head trails, which I don’t recommend doing in the winter. But I think you may be new to hiking in New England and haven’t been to the toughest mountains in the toughest months! If so make sure there is plenty of research as Mount Washington is known for having some of the worst weather conditions in the world and the highest wind speeds.

Dog Friendly Cottages
This hike has to be number two on our list of the best hikes in New England.
You will have approximately 3.1 miles and nearly 2,900 feet of elevation gain to and from Haystack Mountain. For a full mile on top of the Franconia ridge, you’ll have wonderful views.
This hike is like an unforgettable journey that takes you over Haystack Mountain (first 4,000 feet), Mount Lincoln (second) and finally along the ridge of Mount Lafayette (third).

And there will be plenty of ideas here that will make you ooh and ahh, but don’t think it’s an easy walk!
You walk like an antelope with your feet on steep rocks! But this hike is my favorite and should definitely be on your list of best New England hikes!
At a total of 1.5 miles, Artist Bluff is one of the prettiest, shortest, and most popular hiking trails in New Hampshire. This is one of the shortest hiking trails in New Hampshire.
It’s a landscape unlike any you’ve likely seen before while exploring the best hiking trails in New Hampshire.

Sitting high on the bluff above Echo Lake and Hwy 93 and Rt 18 in front of you. Just make sure to go early on weekends or weekdays!
I had to put this moderate but short hike on my Best of New England list. And you may remember this view.
After climbing 900 feet, you’ll stand at the heights of Willard Mountain with stunning views of Crawford Notch Valley and Route 302 below.

Taking Pets Abroad After Brexit
These views plus the tallest waterfall in New Hampshire?! This hike should be on your New England hiking list!
It’s a 4.9 mile loop with about 1,700 feet of elevation gain, take the trail in the opposite direction and you’ll first hit Frankenstein Rocks, which is what happened to him.
Enjoy the views of Crawford Notch State Park in front of you. And enjoy this beautiful day to Artusa Falls, the highest in NH at 3.4 miles.
Although not 4000 feet, it is a very scenic hike with two mountains and beautiful views.

I hiked North Sugarloaf and Middle Sugarloaf.
Fortunately, you can cover both the north and central areas on the 3.3-mile Sugarloaf Trail, which offers more than 1,000 feet of elevation gain.
The summit of Pierce Mountain via the Crawford Trail is 5.9 miles and has an elevation gain of approximately 2,400 feet.
This road is rocky and not easy to climb. But what if you want a west-facing lift up Mount Washington at sunset? Then put your sights on top of the hole!

I call climbing Crawford Mountain via the Davis Trail my best kept secret. Because no attention is paid to it, I think it deserves it!
That’s not 4000 feet to take it off the table for those worried about the NH48 entry, and it’s not easy!
But the views of Crawford Notch State Park and the valley below rival those at 4,000 feet! And it’s good not to meet many people on the street.
There are many great mountains and mountains in New Hampshire. But I wanted to include New England’s second highest mountain on this list.

At 5.6 miles and 2,700 feet of elevation gain, this hike is a challenge! But when you climb to the top you will forget everything because you will be rewarded with the most amazing views.
It may not seem very long or very far. But when it was near the top you will find 2 big piles of rocks! That’s the best way to describe it.
Like climbing a seemingly endless flight of stairs, stepping on each person is tiring. But when I look at these photos, I want to try this hike again!
