Dog Friendly Holidays Looe Cornwall – Looe is a lively seaside town in South East Cornwall. There is plenty to see and do throughout the year, such as the annual raft race in the summer and festivals in the winter. The city is divided into eastern and western sides, and between them is a working port on the Lui River. Fishing is the port’s main occupation, and a weekly fresh fish auction is held on the waterfront. The fishing fleet consists of 47 vessels, including trawlers and handling vessels. There are many cruises available to enjoy, many of which are dog friendly.
The towns are built in the valley of the Lui River with steep hills and narrow streets full of character. There is also a good sense of community here. In 2018, local residents came together to organize Loo Saves the Day, an event that replaced the canceled Loo Music Festival. Walking between the two towns is easy, but there is also a dog ferry. It costs just 50p per person and dogs can travel for free. It only takes a few seconds to cross the river and Woody likes to smell the sea air on our way.

When we visit Lu, we love to explore the cobbled streets. There are many dog-friendly pubs, cafes and restaurants, such as The Fisherman’s Arms and The Ship Inn. We pick up dough from one of the many local bakeries to eat as we walk. Be careful though, Louie’s seagulls are particularly annoying and love more than stealing snacks! We’ve heard good things about Daisy’s Cafe in East Louis and will definitely be visiting next time!
Looe Caravan Park & Cornwall Holiday Campsite
A trip to the Looe Pet Emporium is a must for Woody. A cozy pet store with all the necessary items. They sell a variety of natural gums such as trachea, chicken feet and imitation beef. All are sold plastic-free and are perfect for eco-conscious dogs like Woody. We also enjoy the charity shops in East Loo which are all dog friendly. There are also local galleries, gift shops and other small businesses. If there is a dog bowl outside, the store is probably dog friendly and if your dog is well behaved, you may get a treat from the shopkeeper!
Lewes is on the South West Coast Route with excellent routes to Polpero and Seaton. Nearby there are many beaches suitable for walking and dogs. Our favorite has to be Hannafor. It’s dog-friendly all year round, with free parking nearby and plenty of amenities. Local vendors offer a variety of hot drinks and snacks for summer beachgoers. Woody even managed to convince a man to share his ice cream with him when we visited!
The walk around the Golitha waterfall is beautiful. We even saw an antelope drinking from a stream on our tour. It is about 30 minutes drive from Looe and has many facilities and services. Another amazing place is Cardinham Woods, again half an hour from Loo. There are four hiking trails to choose from, all of which are dog-friendly. Stonerush Lakes is a luxury holiday park located seven kilometers from Polperro and Fowey in South East Cornwall. Unspoilt agricultural fields are picturesque, with a stunning lake at the heart of the park. It is a hotspot for much of Cornwall’s favorite wildlife, including deer, geese and freshwater fish.
On over 28 hectares of land, there are plenty of one-, two- and three-bedroom cottages, most of which are dog-friendly. Stonerush Lakes can accommodate two dogs, which is great for multi-dog families. The cottages are quiet and peaceful and are finished to a high standard both inside and out. Whether you choose a cabin on the lake or decide to spend the night in the heart of the valley, the views are always incredible!
Our Favourite Dog-friendly Cottages In Cornwall Near A Pub
The dogs and I stayed at 3 Valley View, a family run modern cottage at the back of the property. The laminate floors are finished (except for the bedrooms which have carpet), so it’s easy to clean after a muddy walk. I really appreciated how easy it was to close off parts of the cabin like the bedrooms when the dogs got wet. There was plenty of room for them in the open living area to dry off after our walk.
Golitha Falls is one of our most popular walks in South East Cornwall. It would be rude not to drive 20 minutes while staying at Stonerush Lake. Their sister venue, Southern Halt, is also on the way – another upscale country dog spot. We also visited Lantic Bay for the first time during our stay. It was a bit of a hike to the beach, but the pristine coastline was definitely worth it!
Stonerush Lakes Lodge has a modern kitchen. Amenities also include a dishwasher and cookware, so cooking is easy. Alternatively, there is also a restaurant and bar within the building that serve a variety of hearty meals throughout the year, and also offer guests takeaway food.
The master bedroom was spacious and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a private terrace. There was plenty of room for Woody’s crate – which we always travel with, otherwise he tends to jump on the bed in the middle of the night!
