Beck Hall is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Yorkshire Dales, making it an ideal base for walkers and nature lovers. The original farmhouse, dating from 1705, has had several generous extensions added over the years, while oaks and willows grow in the beautiful gardens. Meals (made using Dales produce) are served in the modern restaurant and bar. Afternoon tea can also be enjoyed in the lounge, where there is an open fire. Dogs are allowed in the restaurant and welcome in 21 rooms (max. three people).
This princely pile dwelling with corner turrets, towers and a rare entrance tower resembles a castle. Inside, it’s an elegant, old-school European mansion with huge polished floors and red-black carpets, hallways lined with ornate paintings, and large windows. You won’t be bored here: in addition to the various country activities, there are walking trails (dogs are welcome for £25 per night), a 1-acre walled garden and a nine-hole golf course. School There are many thermal experiences with indoor and outdoor pools that are soft and airy. Rooms, while in need of updating, are very comfortable, with touches of sloe gin, local books, and large bathrooms.
Although this hotel is just 10 minutes from the beach and the hustle and bustle of Scarborough, it feels deep in the country, surrounded by fields, woodlands and beautiful gardens. The former Victorian farmhouse, entirely clad in stone with cream windows, has been extended to include additional wings and two floors with beautiful water features. The hotel is part of the Duke of Devonshire’s 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate, named after the 12th-century abbey six miles south. The pink and charcoal striped carpet runs through the halls of this beautiful Victorian home, the work of the Duchesses of Devonshire, and the family home at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire is sometimes raided for antiques and oil paintings. The buffets are above average and have a simple style that the locals love. The King’s Head was given the opportunity to create a bright, open floor plan that is more like a residence than a residence. There’s a chandelier above the open wooden bar – with cakes and scones and old beer barrels – a wood-burning stove, wallpaper and lovely sofas in the bedroom. Happy Wensleydale Heifer is a charming 17th century house situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are 13 rooms, nine with traditional decoration in the original house and four themed rooms in the new extension behind the courtyard – the James Herriot Room has a chest of drawers for creatures large and small. The top-notch restaurant has a dedicated seafood bar and features a terrace, an old pub and a wood-fired lounge with an open fire and a good selection of whiskey.
