Dog Friendly Holidays Devon And Cornwall – Hedley Wood Holiday Park is located in Holsworthy on the border between Devon and Cornwall. This is the ideal base for exploring Bude, Kilkhampton, Morwenstow and the South West Coast Path. This location is family friendly with many amenities nearby as well as dog friendly. Dogs are welcome in selected caravans at Hedley Wood and must be kept on a leash throughout the site (except in one of the dog walking fields.) We met all types of dogs during our stay and everyone is extremely friendly.

We were invited to stay in one of the luxury caravans at Hedley Wood Holiday Park. It can accommodate up to 6 people and accepts 2 dogs. I had never stayed in a stationary camper before and was surprised to see how spacious it was inside. If you have your own caravan or motorbike, Hedley Wood also offers a range of en suite accommodation. You can even pitch a tent if you want!
Dog-friendly Beaches In West And Southwest Uk
The luxury caravans are equipped with an open-plan living/dining area, kitchenette with fridge, kettle, toaster and stove, as well as two to three bedrooms at the rear. The main bedroom has an ensuite and family bathroom. I was really impressed by the power of the shower, it was much better than the one I use at home!
There are also a lot of doors in the camp, which seems odd to mention, but was really helpful in keeping Woody and Hen from wandering around with muddy feet on our path. Even though the weather wasn’t the best, there was still enough space for the dogs to play inside without stepping on my feet. Each caravan has a flat-screen TV with Freeview channels and a DVD player, as well as central heating. It’s the perfect excuse to snuggle up in the evening and enjoy a movie or two.
We visited Headley Wood in October which meant the weather was very unpredictable! In the midst of heavy rain and storms, we enjoyed a walk in Widemouth Bay. It is just over 2.5 miles from Hedley Wood and a short drive away. The left side of the beach is dog-friendly year-round. I really enjoyed walking this part of the Cornish Coast Path with the dogs last summer, the views were amazing and the walking was quite easy which is always a plus. There are some steep slopes between Crackington Haven and Boscastle but they make great day trips with dogs.
Bude is also just over 5 miles away with plenty of restaurants, attractions and of course the popular Canal Walk. We also went to Crackington Haven during our stay. The beach there is subject to an annual dog ban, which will be lifted at the end of September. Woody and Hen enjoy exploring the rocky beach together and watching the stormy waves is amazing. I even saw a surfer or two in the waves, they were definitely freezing!
Devon Cottages By The Sea
If you’re looking for dog-friendly restaurants nearby, we recommend the Coombe Barton Inn in Crackington Haven, The Tree Inn in Stratton or the Bay View Inn in Widemouth Bay. Hedley Wood Holiday Park also has its own restaurant and bar. Woodman’s Bar serves a range of classic pub and Sunday roasts during peak season. There are also kennels available for use during your stay if you want to dine without your dog.
I can say that Woody and Hen went everywhere with me like they always do. They were on their best behavior throughout our stay and we had a wonderful stay. Dogs stay free at Hedley Wood Holiday Park and although there is a limit of two dogs per static caravan, there is no limit for camping, touring and caravanning. Upon arrival, Woody and Hen received a welcome package from reception, including two of their favorite bedtime gifts!
