A Joshua Tree hike is an amazing experience. It has unique landscapes, stunning views, desert life, and an otherworldly feel. But if you don’t have time to explore every inch, this post has three of the best Joshua Tree hikes for first-time visitors. and they showcase the best of the national park.

These three Joshua Tree hiking trails are easy to hike, moderate in length, and require little more than water, a map, and comfortable hiking clothing. I’ve also included some accommodation recommendations if you’d rather bed down than camp out in a national park
The west and north entrances to Joshua Tree from Highway 62 are open to the Mojave Park side, while the southeast entrance from Interstate 10 is open to the Colorado Desert. This is important to know because the landscape differs dramatically between the high and low desert
The west side of the park, near the Mojave Desert, rises above 3,000 feet and is covered with vast groves of Joshua trees surrounded by huge piles of monzogranite boulders. The walk in this guide is located in this area of the park

Now for the best hikes in Joshua Tree I think these are the three best hikes in the park where you can experience unique views, scenery, etc. These three hikes are highlighted in red on the map below
Warren Peak is next to Black Rock Campground in the northwest corner of the park. It’s a 6-mile round trip that’s a great place to start your Joshua Tree adventure, especially if you’re coming from the West, as it’s the first stop on CA-62. (Don’t make the same mistake I did and don’t camp at Black Rock Campground. The campground is nice and clean, but it’s a little further from the park and a lot closer to civilization than your other options.)
The Warren Peak Trail begins with the Black Rock Canyon Trail, which can be a challenging hike. To find the trail head east from the ranger station, through all the campsites at Black Rock Canyon Campground and through dense brush the size of a football field. You’ll know it when you hit the trail. It’s wide, sandy, and surrounded by black brush. When you get to the trail, turn right and go up. you don’t.

Hidden Valley Trail is located 12 miles southeast of the west entrance on Park Boulevard. It appears to be the true base of the Flintstones, with large piles of white reservoir monozogranite piled up on all sides. It is said that this road is a famous haunt of cattle rustlers and you can see it while passing by. Huge rocks that make distracting noises make it difficult to tell who is there
Although the loop is only 1 mile long, you can spend time exploring the rock formations, which are very easy to climb. Whitewater Reservoir Monzogranite has a very hard and sticky surface, but be careful because going down is often easier than going down, especially if the gear is not up.
Take CA-62 onto Park Boulevard (which turns into Quill Springs Road before returning to Park Boulevard) for 14 miles until you see Hidden Valley Campground on the left. Street parking is available at the Nature Trail on the right
Ryan Mountains is 3 miles south of Hidden Valley Trail off Park Boulevard. There are no road signs until you reach the top of Camp Ryan, so follow the signs to Key View. The 5,470-foot summit offers some of the park’s best panoramic views, including views of San Jacinto, San Gorgonio, Rock Wonders, and Pleasant Valley.
