The Best Dog-friendly Beaches In New England
Burlington, Vermont is one of the most dog-friendly places in New England. Burlington has great adventure spots, out-of-town cafes, and downtown movie theaters. You’ll find lots of fun things to do with your dog. Ride the Burlington Greenway along the shores of Lake Champlain, then stop for a local beer at several of the city’s breweries. Burlington breweries, such as Foam Brewers and Zero Gravity Craft Brewery, allow local winemakers, and Switchback Brewing Co. Also allow dogs in the house. Church Street Market, the most popular mall for walkers (and pups) in New England, has a dog food and shopping district. For pet-friendly accommodations, Made Inn Vermont offers comfortable beds and breakfasts within walking distance of downtown, and is a cozy home away from home for you and your dog.
When it comes to summer vacation dogs, there’s no better place to be with your pooch than Cape Cod! With its undeniably luxurious beaches and plenty of outdoor activities, Cape Cod is the perfect summer destination for people and dogs alike. In particular, you will enjoy visiting Cape Cod National Seashore. Sunny beaches and trails allow dogs to run around even during peak season. Then quench your thirst at Provincetown Brewing Company. They are dog-friendly (and socially aware) and have a dog kennel in the beer garden that says “I bite racists.” There is also a place for pets to stay at the Cape. Spend your money at the Chatham Tiger Inn or try to “wresh it” with your dog at one of the campgrounds at Nickerson State Park.

Of course, you can’t miss trying local Maine lobster cocktails, and Maine Side Park also has an outdoor food truck with an animal table. Huggins Beach is a popular place to cuddle pups in the sand and swim in the water. You and your dog will love exploring Nantucket together. This small island off the coast of Cape Cod doesn’t have many lighthouses and New England attractions. From the ferry you will see many pet owners and it is clear that Nantucket is the place to welcome moviegoers. Choose from dog-friendly activities, from Sconset Bluff Walk to exploring the historic lighthouse. There are several kennels in town, including the Black-Eyed Susan breakfast spot and Quegueg Bistro in the US. Stay a while in a cozy bed and breakfast at the Brass Lantern Inn, which welcomes four-legged friends in select rooms for a special rate.
This dog-loving town in northeastern Vermont is worth a visit. Known as the ski capital of the East, Stowe draws tourists from near and far to its world-class resorts. But with plenty of outdoor activities in all seasons, Stowe is a great place to relax with your dog.
For the more adventurous, Smuggler’s Notch State Park offers miles of trails through gorgeous green mountains. For something less important (but more fun) you and your dog will love Stowe Walk.
