After all, the holidays are more fun when you can bring your best friend. But finding a nice hotel in New England takes a lot of research. What is the hotel policy? Is there an additional fee? Is it stressful or addictive? And you may worry about sacrificing your own comfort to travel with your dog. Are the options only “limited” to dirty hotels and roadside campsites? This 700-acre hotel has everything you need for a hassle-free vacation. Choose from a wide selection of fun activities for the whole family, from land to lake. The pool and spa are pet-free areas, but dogs have their own pool, Funny Beach. We were even able to rent a boat to go out on the lake with Roscoe! In addition, you can eat in one of the five restaurants on site. Dogs are not allowed inside the restaurant, but they can dine with you in the Red Mill’s outdoor seating area. Dog walking and dog sitting services are also available if you want to have some fun without Fido.

Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is a beautiful lodge managed by Lark Hotels. Like most of their properties, their pet policy allows dogs under 70 pounds for an additional fee of $50 per dog per day. We stayed in one of their three dog friendly rooms, which had a nice space with an outside entrance. You can reserve these suites online, just be sure to add a note for your dog’s size, weight and name at checkout. Dogs should not be left alone in the living room. Out of respect for other guests, dogs are only allowed on the hotel porch and outside.
The hotel is unique for its beautiful decoration and hospitality. The living room, elegantly decorated with wood-burning stoves and plush blankets, invites you to curl up with a book or a board game. You can have breakfast at the front of the cafe or have drinks and snacks in the former ski bar Après Only. First you have to reserve the hot tub, which is a bit difficult. But the quality will surely get you through. And the location can’t be beat. We were able to go into town and the shuttle stopped on the hill in front of the hotel. Dog Friendly Sea View Cottages
Mountain View Farm Inn is a unique place to stay in the heart of Vermont’s East Country. Per their pet policy, dogs are allowed in select rooms for an additional $50 per night: Peacham, Danville, N. Danville, Maidstone and Lost Nation. You can select the “Pet Friendly” option to reserve your room online. The hotel is very pet-friendly, with a golden retriever working the front desk and an on-site petting zoo. Find out if your dog gets along with other animals!
We stayed in the Deluxe Peacham room which was nice and comfortable. Roscoe loved sleeping in front of the wood stove. In the morning, he greeted us with cakes and coffee hot from the oven in the main hotel building. Just when we thought we couldn’t eat anywhere else, the innkeeper brought out a stack of his famous pancakes topped with fresh grapes. We couldn’t resist.
With over 400 acres on a ridge in the unspoiled Northeast Kingdom, this historic farm is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. It’s worth getting up early to see the pastel pink and purple sunrise. Over the mountains and the morning mist settles in the valley.
The Kimpton Taconic in Manchester has one of the most generous pet policies I’ve come across. From the skin to the wings, everyone can enter the elevator! There are no restrictions on the size, weight, breed or number of pets, and there are no additional fees or charges. Opt to accept pets when booking online and fill out the pet form at check-in.

The Kimpton Taconic is the perfect place to pamper your dog. Rooms are stocked with food bowls, toys, treats and an Orvis dog bed. (The Orvis flagship store down the street is a must-see with your dog). Dogs are welcome in the hotel’s front restaurant, Copper Grouse, and on the front dining room balcony. In the colder seasons, they have outdoor heaters to ensure you and your kids stay warm. Additionally, you can request pet services including pet sitting, dog walking and spa services by contacting the front desk.
Made in Vermont in downtown Burlington is a home away from home for you and your pet. This pet-friendly bed and breakfast welcomes well-behaved furry friends for $25 per pet per day. You can book directly online, add your dog to the number of visitors and be sure to add information in the comments.
We stayed in room 904, one of the larger rooms recommended for large dogs. Roscoe is also very nice, and the bathrooms are down the hall (although they are the only ones). The uniqueness of the hotel may not be for everyone, but it is in a good location within walking distance of the city. The owner is very friendly and offers recommendations for pet friendly restaurants and things to do in Burlington.
Located between Killington and Rutland in central Vermont, Mountain Top Resort is not only dog friendly, they put dogs first. Their pet policy states that dogs are welcome in all four guest houses and a selection of guest houses with Vermont-made cookies, beds and bowls. You can reserve for an additional $50 per dog per night. Maximum two dogs per unit. Dogs must be registered at the time of booking.

With simple but clean rooms, this is one of Stowe’s most affordable hotel options. Breakfast can be left free, so go somewhere else for breakfast. But grab a drink at Fritz’s bar and sit in a cozy spot with your little dog. Choose from playing a board game in the great room in the living room, reading a good book in front of the large fireplace, or gazing at the stars around the outdoor fire pit.
