Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round, but if you’re up for a longer walk, there are miles of beach paths you can take in both directions from the hotel. Heading north takes you to Mawgan Port and the Bedruthan Steps, and heading south to Newquay and St Agnes. After exploring the beach, return to the hotel for sunset – a beautiful lounge with a direct view of the sea, or the terrace if it’s a sunny day.

The nearby Holm Beach is a real hidden gem and can be empty even in summer. It’s also the coast where the Peddars Way ends and the Norfolk Coast Path crosses, so you have a number of routes to choose from. We suggest heading west to Snettisham or east to Sea Palling.
A Dog-friendly Beach Adventure
A small house above Bigbury-on-Sea, with great views of Burgh Island, great rooms and some of the best food in Devon. Inside, there are colorful interiors with wooden floors, potted palms and large windows.
Situated in an AONB, the village lies just over the South West Coast Path, with the sand dunes and rolling hills of the South Hams. If you go before May 1, you can take your pooch to nearby Bantham Beach – known by many for its great surf and the little Gastrobus, a mobile beach cafe that serves delicious food. On low tide you can walk along the sand to Burgh Island which has a good pub. Alternatively, follow the coastal path to the cliffs at Challaborough Beach.

Between you and 18 miles of Ginsel there is only one unspoiled stretch of grass, Chesil Beach. The house is ideally placed so you can take in all the views – watch the waves as you wake up in the morning and have breakfast on the terrace. 45 minute walk along the coast to Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens – tea and scones are great, dogs welcome too.
