Superb Weymouth Holiday Retreat, Osmington
Overlooked by the mountains and surrounding countryside, Ringstead Bay is a long sandy beach with shingle beaches perfect for a stroll with your furry friend. From the National Trust’s car park on the cliffs, there is a one-mile path that leads you down the calm sea before you hit the sand, with unobstructed views of boats, kitesurfers and the Isle of Portland.
Your dog will love sniffing the rocks, stones and grass on this pristine beach! It is part of the Jurassic Coast, so keep an eye out for fossils that are often found on the beach.
You’ll find Preston Beach just outside Weymouth, in the former Greenhill Park and before you reach Bowleaze Cove. This small section of shingle beach is dog friendly and quieter than the main beach. That’s why the local people like to bring their dogs here all year round.
It’s easy to get here, with dedicated parking on the beach and the Preston Beach ring road for your wallet. If you like a bit of inshore fishing, this area is very popular, with deep waters and reefs that come right up to the beach. Perfect for dog treats!
Weymouth Pet Friendly Beach Cottages
Standing on the road that connects Portland to Weymouth, you’ll find Baymouth Bay. It is a green beach with lots of sand and cliffs that go down to deep water. This is a great place to visit, thanks to its soft and beautiful land on the Isle of Portland!
There is a small row of houses overlooking the beach, but the long grass and rocky terrain help hide them for a nice and quiet walk. Behind the beach, the Rodwell Trail takes you, a path that follows a disused railway line that has since been rebuilt. Dogs are also welcome on the trail.
Osmington Mills is famous for its smuggling routes and the inn tells many stories about the history of the area. But there is also an area on the beach that is great for dog walking! Pooches are welcome year-round to explore the rocky beach and waterfront.
