Dog Friendly Resorts Hilton Head
Most places on the island do not allow dogs on the premises, especially resorts and small one-room rentals. Of course there are exceptions like Palmetto Dunes. While your pups are not allowed in high season, they are very welcome during the summer months, October through April. Places to take your dog Weekly vacation rentals can be found through rental companies such as Beach Vacations and Vacation Rentals. Most rental companies will give you instructions and options on which house to rent. They have a variety of things to choose from, but try to remember that in June, July and August it will be difficult to find holiday homes that allow dogs, especially large dogs. So call and plan ahead!

Summer Guide For Hilton Head Island 2024
There are many great parks to take your pup to in Hilton Head, but Chaplin Park may be the best, as it has its own “Best Friend Dog Park” with lots of fenced-in play areas for the little ones. It’s a great place to let your dog off the leash and enjoy the freedom. Remember, if you let your puppy roam free, they should be friendly with other dogs and under good voice command. This also applies to all areas where dogs can be walked under cover, including the beach.

Dogs are allowed on all Hilton Head beaches, but not year-round. In the height of summer they are allowed only during certain hours.
From the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day, dogs are not allowed on the beach between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. You can also take your dog to the beach before 10am and after 5pm. All summer. So yes, you can still enjoy fresh air, sandy beaches and salt water.
Hilton Head Island Accommodations
If you want to explore a bit with your dog, consider planning a visit to Hilton Head in the fall or winter. From October 1 to February 28, dogs can be walked on the beach all day, as long as they are on a leash. Click here for more information on beach laws.
Some cruise lines and kayak rental companies, including Captain Mark’s Dolphin Cruises and Hilton Head Outbound, allow kayakers to come aboard! It can make a great start or perfect day on the water with a fur baby. Be sure to call ahead to check.
Before going to the beach, park or long boat, make sure to drink fresh water and get some shade. You don’t want your friend to dry out! And remember that you are responsible for any waste your dog leaves behind.
Unfortunately, due to federal health code regulations, your dog is not allowed in any restaurants near Hilton Head. The good news is that most restaurants on the island have dog food options. Welcome your girlfriend to come to the living room while you relax in the evening sun.
