While pets are not allowed on park trails, beaches, or water in Grand Teton National Park, they are allowed on scenic roads (which are beautiful!), the park’s largest lake, and in some national forests nearby. of which have spectacular views of the Tetons.

Our Favorite Dog-friendly Ski Destinations
Let’s start with one of the best ways to see Grand Teton National Park with your dog: driving the Grand Teton Scenic Loop.
Teton Park Road is the main road through Grand Teton National Park and follows the base of the Teton Range. There are three other scenic drives you can do in the park, including Jenny Lake Scenic Drive, Moose-Wilson Drive, and Signal Mountain Summit Drive. All of these scenic drives are dog-friendly and can be accessed from Teton Park Road.
Our recommendation is to drive the Grand Teton Scenic Loop, which runs from Teton Park Road to US Highway 89/191 and provides access to the park’s best viewpoints, curves and picnic areas.
This scenic trail winds through the heart of Grand Teton National Park and offers stunning views of the iconic Teton Range and a variety of passes that are perfect for enjoying the scenery with your dog.

Pets are allowed in Grand Teton National Park, but are generally only allowed on park roads, turns, campgrounds, picnic areas, and parking lots. Dogs are not allowed on the hiking trails or in the visitor centers.
Off Moose-Wilson Road in Teton Village, consider Mangy Moose Restaurant and Lounge and the drive-thru at Overview Coffee.
Restaurant policies can change, so it’s always a good idea to call ahead to confirm the location still offers dog sitting.

When you reach the top of Table Mountain and see the stunning Teton Range before you, you feel like you’re sitting in a painting.
Table Mountain is located in the Teton Valley region, west of the Teton Range. The Table Mountain trailhead is easily accessible from Driggs, and the hike usually begins near Teton Canyon Campground, located at the base of Teton Canyon. (It’s about an hour from Jackson, WY). Continue on Teton Canyon Road to the parking area where you will see a large sign indicating South Teton Trail 027. The Face Trail is located near the restrooms.
This is a difficult and strenuous hike involving at least 10 miles round trip. The shortest route takes you out and back on the Face Trail, which is about 9 miles. However, many hikers, including us, recommend doing a counterclockwise loop along this trail to climb the Face Trail and hike the North Teton Trail or Huckleberry Canyon. These loops are about 10 to 12 miles long. (For a less strenuous climb, consider hiking the North Teton Trail and back. Although longer, this trail is less steep.)

You’ll enter steep passes through pine and aspen forests before the trail opens up to provide panoramic views of the surrounding valley and the Teton Range in the distance. The last section of the Table Mountain hike is the steepest, but get plenty of rest and keep going… because the breathtaking views at the top are worth it!
At the top, you will be rewarded with the most amazing views of the Teton Range and Cascade Canyon. You are so close to the mountain peaks that you really feel like you are standing in the middle of a painting of the Grand, Middle and South Tetons. The view is especially impressive in the afternoon light, you just have to keep an eye on the clock to get down before it gets dark.
Along the way, you can encounter a variety of wildlife, including moose, bears, and a variety of bird species. (We came across a snake lying in the grass near the Face Trail.) Close your eyes and make sure you carry bear spray when you go up the mountain.
Hiking Table Mountain is challenging due to the steep elevation, rocky terrain and exposure to the elements. Make sure you bring the right gear (wind layers at the top of Table Mountain), plenty of water, trekking poles and snacks and prepare for the climb.
State Parks That Allow Pets
Table Mountain is a challenging but rewarding hike for dogs and is one of the best dog trails in the area.

Unfortunately, there are no dog trails in Grand Teton National Park. Dogs are generally only allowed where cars are allowed: on roads, in campgrounds and along the Grand Teton Scenic Drive.
This is part of what makes Mountain Mountain a great hike when visiting Grand Teton National Park with your dog. They can join you for a day of adventure and still get incredible views of the Teton Mountains.

We highly recommend a pet friendly cabin at Colter Bay Cabins & Campground. (We also stayed one night at Colter Bay Campground. That was great too, but we prefer the cabins because we can fit the crate and Lincoln bed more easily.)
However, staying in Colter Bay is a longer drive to the Table Mountain Hike, so if that’s at the top of your list, then stay at a dog-friendly hotel or rental in Jackson, WY or Driggs, ID. good. Be the best
Jackson Lake is the only lake in Grand Teton National Park that allows dogs on boats. Whether you bring your own gear or rent it from a dog-friendly organization, your dog can join in for a day on the water at Lake Jackson!

Note: Otherwise, pets are prohibited from navigating park waters. Lake Jackson is an exception. However, rentals in the park, such as those at Signal Mountain Lodge, generally do not allow dogs, even at Lake Jackson.

It’s close to Jackson, Wyoming and is actually a great stop if you’re doing the entire “scenic loop” of Grand Teton National Park.
The Snake River Trail at Emily Stevens Park is a fun place where dogs run free and even swim in the river. Once you park at the trailhead and follow the trail to the river, you can walk as much or as little as you like along the trailhead.
Please note: this is a very restricted area and dogs run and roam almost everywhere. (But there are plenty of places to find secluded spots, and the trail is wide, so it was easy for us to pass other dogs without a problem.)
