Best Places To Vacation With Your Dog – There are many restrictions on traveling to national parks with a dog, but it can also be enjoyable and fun if you know what to expect before you go.

First of all, know what to expect in terms of where to go to a park with your dog. For example at the Grand Canyon & Bryce Canyon we have many places we can explore along the rim, because usually it is easy for everyone to measure. While Zion & Capitol Reef have less hiking for dogs, they also offer the wonderful experience of driving through the park with our car.

The conditions were not very favorable for us to leave Leo in the car, because the parking lots were usually full and he rarely saw the shade. So we must have it with us all the time. We changed into shops and tourist centers and walked some streets that we don’t want to miss. This usually means long hours of sitting and snuggling with Leo while everyone else is out having fun. I still like this because Leo likes to meet people and is very good at hanging out.

Such an environment is not easy for non-social dogs. While most people are very good at asking permission to pet Leo more than a few times in each park, people are just starting to pet him. He had kids running and wrapping their arms around him, which surprised us both, he had kids yelling at him as they passed. He had a couple of dogs that just got in his face when their owners were distracted by seeing that they didn’t see us. These are the reasons we don’t take Nick because I won’t be able to enjoy myself as much as I need to be on the phone constantly to help him deal with those situations when Leo can barely do it. So part of my job is also to look after people and to be responsible and take care to give people enough comfort so that they don’t have to walk through it if they are concerned.

Do you see me hiding? In all the pictures that look like he might be on a leash, I’m really there. I can hide behind him, behind a rock or just stand next to him. Don’t take your dog out in the national park!
