Sidewalk Doggie’s mission is to help dog parents spend more time with their dogs by finding and sharing activities they can do and places they can go. Smell our gratitude
The most dog friendly website on the internet. Sidewalk Dog is your source for all things dog. It is believed that there are more than 250,000 dogs worldwide. Oh, sleep, I live that. That and a soft, chewy treat I grabbed from the pantry when I did the trick, after bath time, to be a good boy (which is always the case if you ask me). I live a very basic life, but I love it. That includes eating (my favorite), sleeping (second favorite), and belly rubs (I’ll never be full). Home is where my heart beats, but I put it in a car that really goes everywhere, and I love it. Getting in the car to go on vacation? The dog won the lottery.
Because I’m a good kid (read above), my family always finds pet-friendly resorts in Minnesota for vacations, which makes me feel like trash. Whether you have a teenage cat, a new kitty on the crew, or a family tree, you want to be included.
Pets & Points: Pet-friendly Hotels Fur Sure!
1. Let’s talk about travel. When you get into the car with your dog or cat, it’s important to be prepared. Safety should always come first. Like I said, I’m a simple person, so if I can look out the window at all the beautiful views of Minnesota, I’m happy. I’m also a fan of seat belts. This is what I have https://www.chewy.com/kurgo-direct-to-seatbelt-dog-collar/dp/56751. Some dogs and cats like to be more comfortable, so they choose something like this https://www.chewy.com/snoozer-pet-products-lookout-ii-dog/dp/140449. Whatever you choose, if you don’t want your hair to tear off your clothes for a month, also bring a car seat cover. Below the line? If Max or Tiger don’t let go of the car, you will start the journey on the right side.
2. Is your pet up to date on flea and tick prevention? Do you have a microchip? These are the items you should check off your list before you leave. Also carry medical records in case of an emergency or if the resort requires your pet’s vaccinations or medical history. Preparing everyone for a safe and healthy adventure makes the moment more enjoyable.
3. You’ll be surprised how many pet-friendly Minnesota resorts there are! If you are not sure, call. There may be additional fees, weight limits, or rules about what animals you are allowed to bring (not sure if Buddy the Bearded Dragon is welcome), but it’s safest to ask. My personal favorite is The Red Door Resort. It’s spacious, the staff is friendly and attentive, and there’s plenty of firewood to find, leaves to run through, and fresh air to breathe. My family is always in a good mood when I’m there. Red Door Resort has some rules, but mostly fun ones!
Bringing a pet to the resort costs $15 per day, but additional cleaning fees may apply if pet policy guidelines are not followed. They want you to keep pets off the furniture; This includes beds, bunk beds, sofas and chairs. If your pet is used to sitting on furniture at home (with paws raised), you may want to bring a blanket or blanket to put on top of the furniture. If you do not do this, there will be an additional charge for cleaning service. It usually costs $50 to wash the bed, pillows, etc., but the furniture has to be replaced because it is damaged or stained. It could be more.
State Parks That Allow Pets
Some accommodations at Red Door Resort don’t allow furry friends, so when you make your reservation, be sure to let them know you’re bringing your best friend!
Pets are not allowed on or near the swimming beach, but they are allowed in the harbor.
O When on the ground, furry friends should be leashed and not left unattended unless in a cage. If the dog barks or barks, the cleaning staff will not enter the unit.
4. What to pack for your Minnesota vacation: Kids or humans, it’s always a struggle. Here’s a list to get you started:
Lake Augusta Cabins
· First aid kit that includes bandages, blunt scissors, tweezers, towels, tape, absorbent non-adhesive dressings, alcohol wipes and an Elizabethan collar (with shame).
5. Make a plan! I like to stop to rest and stretch my legs for a few minutes, usually every hour. I want to have lunch, dinner and snack when you eat, of course. Flexibility is key! Maybe the weather wasn’t what we wanted, or the bike stops made me squeeze the trees, but we’re all in this together (and I’m in the car!) and that’s what matters. .
When you enter your home-away-from-home sanctuary, we hope you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the outdoor adventures, hugs, and unforgettable family time that awaits you and your loved ones. I am glad to have played a small part in what I hope will be not only an enjoyable experience but also a cherished memory in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
*yawn* I don’t know about you, but I invite you to sleep under the Minnesota sun. Go and plan your family vacation now! You can take all the credit for how well prepared and planned, I won’t say. I’ll send you an invoice for payment for the work done, the stomach ache, and the ear scratch.
