What Resorts Allow Dogs – Ever since becoming Hobbs, my three-year-old Shih Tzu, traveling around Cebu has become more of a challenge. While I used to be able to quickly pack up and head to the beach or mountains on a whim, now I have to research my destinations carefully to make sure Hobbs is well taken care of whenever we travel.
Most if not all high-end hotels in Cebu City and resorts in Mactan allow pets, so it was a pleasure to find these pet-friendly places. Note that most are far from the city itself.
What Resorts Allow Dogs
On our first trip out of town, I took Hobbs to Bantayan Island. We stayed at the Coral Blue Oriental Villas and chose our spacious room, especially the ensuite bathroom.

The resort was not strict about its pet policy. Hobbes was allowed to go anywhere and could walk without a leash. However, he still watched carefully because there were stray dogs in the area.
We were only there for one day, but since the Virgin Islands also have rooms, I included them in the list.
Hobbs enjoyed running around and yes, he made me run after him. Eh, the island is huge and it was terribly hot, so halfway through his walk, Hobbes refused to take a nap. After resting a bit and re-applying his natural dog company OrganicPavTection, we continued wearing Hobbs half the time.
There are several listings for AirBnBo units at SolineaResort Condominium that allow pets, and on a much-needed jaunt into town, I took Hobbs with me. The location was perfect as it is right across from Ayala Center Cebu.

The only downside was that every morning and afternoon I had to take Hobbs down for his daily walk and potty time. And since the entire floor area of the condominium was paved, I had to drive it to an empty grassy lot opposite the HSBC building, which meant crossing a busy intersection.
This secluded resort in Malapascu is perfect for parents like me because of its manicured gardens and private beach, both perfect for a stroll.
The first two nights we stayed in their standard room. It’s smaller than the usual guest room we’re used to, but it had a balcony, which Hobbs really liked because it was cool.
On our third night, we were upgraded to a De Luxe room, which was more spacious and had a French window that offered us a beautiful view of the sea.

Hobbes loved this room and spent most of his days looking out the window. He also enjoyed the side table outside and created his own seating area.
A few observations about the animals at Tepani: they have pet dogs and while the dogs at the resort are polite and nice, the ones at the restaurant – the strays they feed from time to time, as I was told by the staff – are loud and aggressive around a few other dogs because when But they bark when they see Hobbes. Also watch out for the cats, because even when they weren’t approaching us, their mere presence was enough to make Hobbs go ballistic. (He dislikes cats and chases them.)
When it came to pet policy, Teppany was not strict either. I was not asked to sign a waiver. Hobs are allowed everywhere, even in restaurants.
We had our company there and my colleagues and I were allowed to bring our animals. Unlike other pet-friendly resorts that only allow small to medium dogs, Carancho allowed my staff Labrador and even allowed him to swim on the beach.

Karancho also has many dogs and cats on site, so remember to always be on the lookout for your furbabies, especially if your furbabies are like Hobbs who doesn’t like other animals.
This place is ideal for a relaxing holiday with your child, mainly because its well-maintained grounds are ideal for daily walks. Just get it from Hobbs. You can tell from the picture below that you really have a relaxing holiday at Les Maisons. Yes yes! Seriously, this kid sure knows how to channel his inner peace (and cuteness).
They are not strict, even in places where animals are allowed. At first I walked Hobbs on a leash, but after being assured that Tracy, their resident dog, was harmless, I let Hobbs roam the resort on his own.
Our duplex was right on the beach. It is very spacious and I especially liked the large four poster bed. The downstairs balcony had an unobstructed view of the ocean which was really cool.

In addition to the large space for the dogs to run around in, there were also many nooks and crannies perfect for photography.
Les Maisons d’Etac also had several strategically placed hammocks, and it was during this tour that I discovered Hobbs’ love for them. He especially liked rocking lightly on top of them and I think it was because he loved the feel of the wind. Sometimes he would sit on them for hours!
Solia Resort used to allow dogs since Hobbs and I were there last year during my birthday, but when I checked again earlier this year they said they no longer allow pets because some owners refused to follow their rules. . When I checked, they said these owners, even when they signed a waiver, allowed their dogs to swim in the pool. They don’t even clean up after their pets. I was shocked to hear this. Due to the irresponsible behavior of the owners, we are suffering the consequences, which is really sad because the resort, with its spacious grounds and private beach, would have been perfect for daters like me.
Hobbs especially loved his grounds, so it’s a real shame that pets are no longer allowed here as it’s one of the closest resorts to where we stay.
Cebu Pet Friendly Beach Resorts
These resorts and hotels don’t usually allow dogs, but after being told Hobbs was well-behaved and well-traveled, they let him stay with me as long as I agreed to their terms.
We were here during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were housebound for nine (9) months, so when we found out a friend worked there, we booked a room after she assured us she could bring Hobbs.
To carry Hobbs I had to carry his pram so I could hide it, which was a hassle as his lift was small. The staff were kind though, because when they saw that Hobbs wasn’t barking at everyone and kept to himself, they let him off the leash whenever we left the room.
The hotel was small and there was nothing to do in the area. Our room had a beautiful sea view.

We were there last month and while they initially refused my request to bring Hobbs, they relaxed when I told them again that Hobbs was traveling very well and updated with rabies shots and shots. His only request was that the bed was off limits to Hobbs, so I had to bring his bed. As an extra precaution I also brought a waterproof bed cover so the bed would be protected if Hobbs jumped on the low bed.
Our sea view de luxe room gave us a beautiful view of the sea, although Hobbs was more interested in running around the balcony garden and smelling the bushes as he had spotted a few stray cats in the place.
He also loved the beach. Only two (2) rooms were occupied during our stay so we had room as other guests were usually out on their daily dives.

With its 11.4 hectares of landscaped grounds and private lagoon and beaches, Plantation Bay is the perfect destination for everyone, including the pups. Everywhere, I mean everywhere, is Instagram-worthy, especially when you have the likes of Efurbaby Hobbs who knows how to pose for the camera.
From paved tennis courts to main pools and lagoons, pups have a great time walking or bathing in the bushes or just bonding with their humans.
Sunrises at the resort are also some of the most beautiful on the island, as these photos can attest. Generally the best sunrise photos can be taken from natural beaches or western lagoons as they face the beach.
The sunsets at Plantation Bay are also very attractive, although I don’t usually get to capture them with Hobbs as my model because he usually walks before dusk.
