Also known as the Underground Bunker, Battlebox Singapore is a secret command center from WWII. Built in the late 1930s, the bunker is nine meters underground and you can sign up for a 30-minute tour. The tour explores the adventures and drama that followed the decision to surrender to the Japanese Army on February 15, 1942. Battlebox Singapore is not suitable for children under 7 years of age.

Jubilee Park is where the kids love to go when you’re at Fort Canning Park! You will find it at the bottom of the park along the road from Clare Quay. Like most outdoor areas in Singapore, there is no sun shade, so the best times are in the morning (closes by 10am) and evening. Highlights here include multi-purpose arrows (including axes), a bush for climbing and balancing, saws, a sand pit (BYO bucket and knife!) and a “treehouse” rope bridge! a children’s slide at the end of Clarke Quay) and large long slides built into the natural slope of the park.

It may have had macabre origins, but Fort Canning Green is now a popular venue for outdoor concerts, cultural events, picnics and exercise (often yoga or workshops). The site, which was Singapore’s first Christian cemetery between 1822 and 1865, was closed and filled in 1865 before the cemetery was turned into a park. Today, the only visible signs of the area’s past are the Gothic gates that sit at the entrance to Fort Canning Green, the James Brooke Napier Memorial and two bowls designed by George Coleman (Coleman Street is the same style). In the 1970s, unmarked graves were discovered; 200 of them were placed on the walls of Fort Canning Green. Fun fact: on the walls of the memorial is a plaque for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s mother, Esther Farquhar Bernard.
