The owners thought as much about guest accommodation as environmental partnerships. The cabins are in harmony with the natural environment of the property and are specifically adapted to the cyclical rhythm of the body. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to wake up to natural light and relax under the stars as the sun sets. There are huge valleys just outside where you and your pup can cross.
A long collar is recommended so your dog can take advantage of the open spaces here and along the trail. The River Mountain trail is a nice 1.45 mile loop along a creek and Jack loved soaking his feet to cool off the heat. Find a “hammock hideout” with swinging hammocks in the trees where you can comfortably take a nap or read a good book.
When happy hour is approaching, head to the old log cabin from the 1800s to enjoy free drinks and mingle with other guests. You can dine in person or order fresh food prepared by the resort staff. The chili that comes with the warm homemade cornbread is delicious.

You can book accommodation including the main house, private cabins, glamping yurts and tents. I stayed in a yurt that had electricity, 2 queen beds, a large deck, flower bed, bright lighting, parking space, pellet stove, electric blankets, heater, fan, charcoal grill and outdoor seating. The yurt is very close to modern toilets and a shared kitchen.
Additional amenities include a cedar hot tub, outdoor yoga platform, indoor and outdoor lounges, complimentary coffee and tea, and a meeting room. You can book a la carte excursions, including horse riding and yoga classes. The resort has a variety of events throughout the year and is also suitable for weddings and group holidays.
If you need a place to escape the city with your dog, River Mountain is a great option that won’t cost you a fortune. Depending on the season, prices vary from $130 per night for a 4-person yurt to $580 per night for a 12-person cabin.
