Paso Robles is one of California’s top wine destinations and is located in San Luis Obispo County, 125 miles south of San Francisco on California’s Central Coast. If you’re a wine lover, check out this part of the Central Coast as your next weekend getaway from San Francisco.

The Best Napa Dog-friendly Wineries With Fabulous Wines

Located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, this city is known for its many wineries, tasting rooms and olive groves that attract wine lovers from northern and southern California. Similar to wine tastings with Babu (and now Gonda) in Napa, Sonoma, Carmel Valley, Lake Arassa, and Lodi, Paso Robles has dog-friendly tasting rooms and dog-friendly wineries.

The best way to plan a dog-friendly wine tasting in Paso is to check out the Paso Robles Winery website, which lists all the wineries (with a helpful dog tag next to their name to indicate they welcome dogs). It certainly helped to make a list of wineries to visit with Gunda, who was with us earlier in Pismo Beach, a dog-friendly beach town near San Luis Obispo.

Finally, here are my favorite dog-friendly Paso Robles wineries based on my experience. This list will certainly continue to grow, so stay tuned for more new additions. Prices reflect the flavor of 2021 and may change over time. It also mentions the restaurant’s pet policy, which changes from time to time, so confirm before you arrive, ie check with the winery before making a reservation.

This dog-friendly restaurant in downtown Paso Robles will delight you with friendly service and delicious Spanish cuisine! Best of all, dogs are allowed in the tasting room, which is open very late (until 8pm). You can taste 6 wines (mixed white and red) for $20, or go for a reserve price of $35. Grapes are sourced from vineyards in San Luis Obispo, Templeton and Paso.

Along with Diablo Paso, another spot for late-night wine tasting is Jeffrey’s Wine Country BBQ on Norma’s Way, which has a large dog-friendly patio. Cendré Wines is another great spot for an evening wine tasting with outdoor seating.

Tish and Claw Winery is a dog-friendly Paso Robles brewery with wine, food and love music around the castle until 6 p.m. You can get a white and red flavor combo for $30 or all reds for $40. Our meal was on the shaded porch and we went for a mezuzah plate to accompany the wine. If you want something quieter and more focused, I recommend checking out the earlier flavors.

Eberl, which means “little pig” in German, explains the pig statue that greets him at the winery and the images of pigs around him and on wine labels. This wine is unique because the tasting is free. When you book a session, you only pay a small fee for the wine cave tour.

The tour of the cave (where dogs are allowed) takes about 15 minutes as it leads through the staff winemaking and fermentation room and finally into a cave lined with oak pits. The tour is educational and fun, I highly recommend joining it!

The real tasting takes place at special tables around the beautiful courtyard overlooking the luscious vineyards. You can taste one white (Chardonnay) and four reds, of which the “Hog Pig Red” is my favorite Cabernet!

As this winery labels wines with “Paso characteristic French DNA”, this means all Rhône varietals! You can do a regular tasting for $15 or a reserve tasting for $25, and the tasting fee is waived when you buy 2+ bottles or sign up for the wine club.

Tasting takes place outside on the shaded porch with your pup. CASS has a great food menu (which we didn’t partake in) as well as a great store inside that sells local produce and products such as olive oil and the famous local Leo Lelato.

Next to Diablo Paso, this was my favorite wine tasting and the best gastronomic experience in Paso! This dog-friendly winery in Paso Robles is known not only for its wines (a good selection of whites and reds), but also for its delicious food!

The Jetsetting Fashionista

Lunch should be paired with wine tasting (thank you later). You can sit on the shaded porch overlooking the stone building and beautiful herb garden with chef’s accessories.

The vineyards surrounding the estate are the source of the Siluet de Cour grape. There is also a gift shop inside that sells local snacks, Big Sur salt, and wine, including the scented jar I bought 🙂 I enjoyed the wine tasting and the atmosphere of the place, I recommend it to all dog exploring and looking parents.

Two magic words — pinot noir and dog-friendly — led us to discover them by accident on a recent trip to the Central Coast. Windward Vineyards specializes in 15 hectares of Pinlton Noir, producing beautiful grapes fed by the Pacific breezes from Templeton Gap. Tastings are $15 for four pints, so if you love this winery don’t miss it, it’s open 7 days a week from 10.30am.

Tours are available, but I recommend visiting the houses in the afternoon as they tend to get busy in the evenings. They also have special events like pizza nights and paella bake-offs, so check out their Instagram account for special events. No tasting fee for purchase of 2 bottles.

Good food and good wine are a match made in heaven, and if you’re looking to have a good time in Paso Robles, be prepared to check out all of these delicious chilies that come with the tasting I’m about to reveal. These are all in and around downtown Paso Robles, and yes, they are all dog-friendly places to eat breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner!

With the exception of winter and early spring, Paso’s weather is perfect for outdoor dining almost year-round. So it’s no surprise that most downtown Paso restaurants have patio or outdoor seating, so they’re naturally dog-friendly. Some of my recommendations based on food and atmosphere:

This charming restaurant in Central Paso not only serves up great food that showcases the best of the Central Coast, but it’s been voted one of the most beautiful dining establishments, and it’s easy to see why. The shaded terrace with plenty of greenery is a nice respite from the heat and perfect for cooling off while your pup enjoys a delicious meal. For a light summer lunch, we recommend taco soup and gazpacho.

Paso Robles Wine Country (94)

Not only does this popular cafe offer a fanatical selection of caffeinated beverages to start your day, they also have a great breakfast menu. The outdoor seating area provides plenty of greenery (read, well-kept plants) to accompany your doll.

This charming cafe immediately impresses with its minimalist design aesthetic thanks to its abundance of trees, plants and beamed ceilings, but its juices, smoothies and breakfasts (avocado toast and matcha pancakes) are also delicious. They have outdoor seating, so get there early for your breakfast fix.

Definitely one of them
