Pets must be kept on a leash throughout the park. However, City Park has Nola City Bark Dog Park where dogs can run free and enjoy the company of their canine companions.
There are plenty of open areas to explore and Audubon Park makes for a great spot for wildlife. Although smaller than the city park, this park is popular among locals and tourists for its peaceful environment, old oak trees and a large walking path that surrounds the park. It’s a popular spot for jogging, golfing, tennis and listening to live music by local musicians.
Audubon Park is the Audubon Zoo, a family-friendly place to visit animals. Dogs are allowed on leashes, but animal shows are not allowed.

Across the Great Plains is Crescent Park, a riverside park near the Bywater. Crescent Park is a long and narrow, 20-acre urban site along the Mississippi River. Crescent Park is home to the Crescent Bark dog park. Although dogs must be kept on a leash on the main floor, Crescent Bark has an enclosed area where dogs can roam and enjoy the river breeze.
Just outside of New Orleans is Lafreniere Park, Metairie’s largest park. Lafreniere Park is a 155-acre park that includes 2 miles of walking trails, several playgrounds, disc golf, and a large lake in the center of the park.
Lafreniere Park has a 5 acre dog park with plenty of space to play, walk and relax. There is also a walking trail in the dog park.
