By looking at Booking.com, The Good Dog Guide and many other sources, we were able to break down each category by focusing on attractions within a 5 mile radius of the cities.

Each was ranked out of 80 points overall, with Whitstable, Kent, topping the list. Scoring 52.2/80, it was advertised as a dog shop in the area, scoring 7.5/10 in this category. 

Whitstable also boasts 7.9/10 for nearby veterinary clinics and 7.5/10 for dog walking. This is not surprising as the seaside town is famous for its spectacular views of the coastline. 

Torquay, Devon came second with an overall score of 51.8/80. Torquay is famous for its beautiful beaches and many restaurants, shops and cafes and attracts thousands of visitors from the UK throughout the year. With over 200 campsites close to the beach, camping in Devon is great for those who want to stay busy while still being away.

Many pet stores have given this place a score of 9.3/10 in this category, while many veterinary clinics have scored a good 9.6/10. When it comes to dog-friendly beaches, a perfect score of 10/10 makes Torquay a solid second place on the seed list, showing just how perfect it is for traveling with your companion.

Bognor Regis finished third with an overall score of 50.7/80. That’s thanks to an excellent 9.6/10 rating in terms of the number of local pet stores, which means your dog will never run out of toys or food. This drops to 0.4/10 for dog-friendly hotels and 0.4/10 for dog-friendly campsites. Dog-friendly beaches ranked the area 2.5/10 with only 2.1/10 for dog-friendly bars within a 5-mile radius. 

If a day trip isn’t enough for you, these places are perfect for an overnight stay with your dog. Using Booking.com’s internal data, we’ve been able to identify the best accommodation options for people traveling with dogs, and Bakewell is at the top of the Peak District at 17.2/ no. 20 in total. 

When it comes to camping and lodging, this place scores 8.6/10 for both categories. The charming market town is full of beautiful architecture and medieval history, making it perfect for dog lovers looking to learn something new.

Padstow in Cornwall is second with 16.8/20. When it comes to dog-friendly campsites, this location scores 9.3/10 out of 35 campsites, making it a good choice for those looking to bond with their dog outdoors. Excluding hotels, the area received a score of 7.5/10 for this category, highlighting the variety of accommodation options for people bringing their pets. 

Bamburgh in Northumberland was third with an overall score of 14.6/20. While the score for dog-friendly campsites is only 4.6/10, this area redeems itself with a high rating for its accommodations. Perfect for those who enjoy the comforts of home while traveling, this place is perfect for dog owners who prefer a plush mattress to an air bed.

Oban, in the Scottish Highlands, was in last place, number 0.4/20. As discussed earlier, the area has very few campgrounds and hotels, making it more difficult for people to travel with their dogs.

If you find your stomach rumbling during your stay, it’s important to know where the dog treats are. First, we had Bakewell in the Peak District. With a sweet name, the area has beautiful cottages and impressive structures to lose yourself in while you’re there.

In second place is Sidmouth, Devon, with a decent score of 9.6/10. Ballycastle was third in County Antrim. The large seaside city scored 9.3 points on the seed list and has only five restaurants in the local area, 20% of which are said to be friendly. Surrounded by hills and valleys, surrounded by dark skies, this exotic place will rekindle any dog’s dreams. 

Merseyside’s Crosby is at the bottom of the list with a dismal score of 0/10. Although there are 134 pubs and restaurants in the local area, only two of them claim to be dog-friendly – 1.49% of their outlets are only suitable for dogs. This number is surprising as Southport and nearby Liverpool are known as top tourist destinations.

If you like walking and dining, then Bracken on the Bracken Beacon is the place for you. With 22 dog-friendly activities, this place scores 10/10 with activities ranging from ‘Doggie Days’ at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and Brecon Cathedral. Falmouth in Cornwall is third with a score of 8.9 / 10 – not only is this location popular with surfers, but it also offers 11 dog-friendly entertainment options. Carney Beach is dog friendly, making it perfect for dogs who like to swim in the sea. 

Polgwidden Cove offers a more developed than unspoiled experience – offering peace and tranquility. In addition, Falmouth is home to Pendennis Castle, one of the finest castles built by Henry VIII to protect the country from attack.
