Best Dog Friendly Attractions Uk – Not all of these attractions allow dogs in all indoor areas, but they all do allow dogs in some indoor/covered areas.
I will provide as much information as I can under each heading (last checked 2023), but please refer to each attraction’s website for the most up-to-date information. This post is written in reference to pet dogs, not service dogs.

Dog Friendly Things To Do In Yorkshire With Dogs Invited
Berwick Museum and Gallery is open from April to late autumn and dogs are welcome throughout. It is a wonderful museum with various exhibits. My favorite part is the middle Berwick part at the top where you can walk around a dragon with your dog and there are also different fun mirrors.

Barter Books in Alnwick is one of the largest second-hand shops in the world. It is very charming with unique features and has been used as a train station.
There is a children’s play area and don’t forget to look up to see the little trains that run along the shelves. Dogs are welcome in the bookstore (seating available) as well as in the dog-friendly section of the cafe. Watch this video of us sharing our Book Barter visit with Fozzy.
45 Family & Dog-friendly Attractions In Devon
Hexham Old Gaol is located in the heart of Hexham Town Center and is dog friendly throughout. Open from April to late autumn. The museum is the oldest surviving prison built and shares the lives of prisoners in the 1300s with interactive exhibits that include activities and a tour of the prison.

Warkworth Castle is one of the places to visit with Fozzy and Ollie. It’s not huge, so it’s never too busy, but there’s enough to explore and make it a worthwhile visit. Warkworth itself is extremely dog friendly and the castle often hosts special events.

27 Dog-friendly Things To Do In London
Dogs can travel for free on Britain’s oldest railway and are welcome on non-special days. Tanfield requires dogs to stay on the road and on seats. It’s a nice little walk to try and there are also great walks around Causey Arch.
The Aln Valley Railway runs steam, express and diesel trains in Alnwick and is a great place to enjoy a day out with the family and your dog (especially if combined with a trip to Barter Books. You can read our full guide by going here ). here
One dog per adult is allowed on the Aln Valley Railway up to 10 dogs per carriage and guests must keep dogs in seats.
Speaking of trains, just a quick note to say that dogs used to be allowed on trains at the Stephenson Railway in North Tyneside, but this is no longer the case. See here for the most up-to-date information.

Ford & Etal in Northumberland is extremely dog friendly and many resorts allow dogs inside, including:

20 Dog Friendly Days Out In The Lake District
Dogs are welcome at Eshott Airport and can meet their owners in the indoor viewing area/dog cafe. It’s a great place to relax with interesting exhibits and you can watch a few planes take off and land (if you time it right). The cafe food is great Read our full review here.

It’s always worth researching whether dogs are allowed inside some of your favorite stores, as you may be surprised. For example, dogs are welcome in some John Lewis and Fenwick locations.
There are too many dog-friendly pubs and cafes to list here, but I’m sure you know your favourites. Something to always remember if you want to go somewhere quick, easy and indoor.
The Best Dog Friendly Attractions In Pembrokeshire
Dogs on the trail are welcome throughout this museum in Sunderland, which includes an airfield, World War II route, Soldier Romney and more.
The Emporium Ice Cream Parlor in Corbridge is extremely dog friendly. Your dogs can accompany you in their indoor seating and they even sell special ice creams and treats for dogs.
Heugh Battery Museum, Hartlepool Heugh Battery is the only World War I battlefield in the UK and the museum contains many military artefacts. It’s free to visit (donations welcome) and the whole site is dog friendly, including the very reasonably priced Poppy Tea Rooms.
Jarrow Hall is an Anglo-Saxon museum and a small medieval village/farm. Dogs are generally welcome in all areas, but sometimes restrictions apply if there is a current illness (the website will notify you if this is the case). The Hive Cafe next door is also dog friendly.
Dog Friendly London
Dogs are not allowed in most indoor areas and buildings in Beamish, but they are allowed in the gardens and a few indoor areas are definitely worth a trip. Indoor areas where dogs are generally allowed include:
Just thought it’s worth adding that dogs are allowed on most public transport, including subways. It’s nice if it’s raining and you don’t want to walk around wet, but you have to go somewhere.
This is obvious, but when my kids were little, they loved a free field trip (with pet names at home). If you need to leave the house with small children when the weather isn’t the best, it’s always worth keeping these options in the back of your mind. Most pet stores will pet a visiting dog, and dogs are welcome at most garden centers (although check the cafe’s restrictions).
Eden Camp in North Yorkshire is extremely dog friendly. Dogs are allowed in all exhibition stands (which are many) and in a designated area in the cafe.
5 Of The Best Dog-friendly Attractions In East Devon The Fido Trail
This museum is a former POW camp and shares diverse and interesting exhibits on all aspects of the war. Some exhibition stands are dark / have flashing lights etc.. but this is obviously an external sign and should be avoided if your dog is nervous. Read our guide to visiting Eden Camp with dogs here.
Ryedale Folk Museum is very close to Eden Camp and you can visit both on the same day. Dogs are welcome in all areas of the museum, including the buildings. There is no cafe but the village has dog friendly tea rooms and a pub.
The museum celebrates the region’s history with heritage and historic buildings from long ago (including the witches’ cave) as well as rare farm animals and a 1950s road.
Dogs are welcome to accompany you on a journey on the North York Moors Railway (except on special events and dining carriages). Tickets are £3 and you are asked to keep your dog in the seats. We enjoyed a great ride on this train with Fozzy last summer.
Pet Friendly Attractions In Nottingham And Nottinghamshire
During our stay in the Peak District, I was delighted to see that dogs were welcomed at the local aquarium. Fozzy had a great time meeting the boys and the fish.
