To protect livestock and wildlife, and to ensure the comfort of other current and future guests (remember, they may not be dog lovers), it is a condition of your booking that you adhere to these simple rules:
A condition of your booking is that the cabin be left in the same condition you found it. (We do not expect you to do a thorough cleaning, but you must keep the cabin intact and reasonably tidy so that we can easily prepare it for next season’s guests). We are currently not charging extra for dogs and would like to keep it that way. Most of the dog owners that visited were wonderful, but unfortunately some left us with a significant amount of additional cleaning, damage, blood and/or droppings to clean up. If you want your dog to be with you during the holidays, here are some tips:

We have chickens and guinea fowl in part of the walled garden next to the cottage, and during March and November we may have sheep and/or cattle in our fields.
The lodge has a large fenced garden where dogs are welcome. It stands alone near the south gate of the accommodation. Suitable for dogs who are nervous or irritable.
Woodsedge Cottage has a fenced backyard and is close to the 14-acre Jock’s Wood. This is where you can chase your dog away.
The Mews is located next to the 14-acre Jock’s Wood, so dogs are kept out. There is an unfenced outdoor area in the front. Dominating the quiet village of New Abbey, Criffel Peak offers excellent walks and fantastic views over south-west Scotland and the Lake District at 570m. The town’s history is on display at Sweetheart Abbey.
