I thought I’d start with the pet-friendly living options first, because if you’re interested in visiting, that’s where you can start. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but I think it ticks most of the boxes for pet owners.

Dog-friendly Beaches In Scotland

The building has one queen bedroom with kitchen/living area. The hotel is fully equipped with cooking utensils, food requirements, washing machine and bed linen. The enclosed garden is dog friendly and the property is a 5 minute walk to the beach which is great for fishing, swimming and boating. Boat ramps in Davistown or Saratoga are both less than 5 minutes away. The dog-friendly beaches of Triggal and Avoca, as well as Erina Fair Shopping Centre, where you’ll find everything you need, cinemas, gyms and pubs.

Great for families and active pets, Lake Tuggerah is on your doorstep with a 12km cycle path to explore, and one of Nth Shelley’s best dog beaches is just two minutes away. 

This property is a refurbished 4 bedroom house with sunny open plan living areas, a deck and a fully fenced garden. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, two twin beds and three bunk beds for up to 10 people. The kitchen is fully equipped, but you must bring your own linens and towels. The rear garden is fully enclosed, fully fenced to both sides, and includes a kennel, food and water bowls.

It is a retro family home with an outdoor indoor dining area and a large secure pet friendly attached. With direct access to Lake Budgewoi, it’s perfect for fishing, boating and exploring on your bike path with your little buddy. Budgewoi Beach is also minutes away and is dog friendly.

The property has two equal sized bedrooms with queen beds and a large day room with two beds for up to 4 children. There is space on either side of the house to store trailers, boats and landing gear. The main room has a TV, VCR and XBox as well as air conditioning and heating/cooling and ceiling fans. Original 1960’s kitchen with original barbecue and entertaining.

There’s nothing better than a great outdoors to go, especially for your dog to exercise. The Central Coast has council-owned parks which allow and encourage use by pet owners. Here are my dog’s favorite parks, but remember, the sport is segregated by pet owners and non-pet owners, so please be respectful and keep your dog under control and try to pick up the pet.

Tuggerah Oval is a fully protected dog park, the park has three large enclosures along with an obstacle course and several water stations.

Peppermint Park is located on Langford Drive in Kariong, this large area has plenty of space to work.

Pets In The Park

Hushi Park Located on Exhibition Road in Lisaro, this popular dog park is fully fenced and has a double gated entrance to prevent sneaky dogs from trying to escape. There is plenty of wood for the dogs to explore and a drinking fountain with a water bottle.

Fagan Park is located on Brisbane Water Drive in Pointe Claire. It provides a dog-friendly park and pockets.

Overton Street Reserve in Kincomber. The holiday park is hidden from the main road in a line of trees and extends for over 150 meters to a safe distance surrounded by sheltered houses and quiet streets to explore.

If soft white sand, gentle waves and endless tennis ball stretches are what make you and your best friends wear tails, then Central Beach is it. There are so many amazing beaches that are milk friendly… the list goes on.

Nth Shelly Beach – One of the best dog beaches with lots of sand, coves and rocks to play and explore.

Wamberal Beach – can be a little crowded, but it ends in a calm lagoon, which is fun.

Avoca Beach – Another beach that can get busy, especially during the holiday season… The main beach has a dedicated beach area, and Avoca Lake is also convenient for swimming.

There are also freshwater sites along the coast such as Tuggerah Lakes, Lake Budgewoi, Ettalong Beach and St Huberts Island.

If you want to be a little adventurous and go off the beaten path, there are great places to take you and your dog “off the beaten track”. Nothing beats the fresh air you’ll find in a state forest or national park, and the Central Coast has plenty of dog-friendly options.

Abbots Falls Trail (Olney State Forest) – This trail is quite long and is about 6-7 miles from the Picnic Pines River View Area before returning to the picnic area. This trail is great in the summer as there are pools where you and your pup can soak up the aboriginal patterns.

Pines Trail – (Olney State Forest) – If you’re looking for a shorter hike with your dog, the Pines Trail is another great option about a mile away. The loop also starts from the picnic area and goes along Nahal Dora under beautiful tall pine trees over a small rock pool before returning to the picnic area. The Pines Picnic Area is also dog-friendly, so plan a post-hike meal with your pup.

Strickland River Trail I Strickland State Forest – This short trail (about 1.5 km) starts from the parking lot near the Banksia Picnic Area and is best viewed after a few days of wildflowers, streams, and tall eucalyptus trees. 

Arboretum Trail I Strickland State Forest – This hike is only about 2 to 2.5 miles long, but passes through some of the oldest and most beautiful trees on the Central Coast, including 150-year-old Australian Reds, Bunias, and Hoop Pines. Like all forests, woodpeckers live and are most active from August to April. Strickland State Forest is also closed and open from sunrise to sunset.

Flour Co. – This is one of the most popular coffee spots on the beach and you’ll see why when you visit… the coffee is amazing. Nth Shelly Dog Beach is just minutes from Toowoon Bay, so pop in on your way or after work. There are several tables where you can sit with your dog to enjoy the products cooked in front of you.

Avoca Beach Point Cafe – If you want to enjoy a party while watching the waves, this is your place. A short walk from Avoca Beach and the lake, you can enjoy a day’s breakfast after an adventure with the kids.

Anchor Cafe – If you’re heading north to avoid the crowds, Budgewoi is the place for you, and after exploring Budgewoi Beach or the lake, Anchor Cafe is a pet-friendly spot.
