Rich in history and the site of Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home, Lincoln State Park offers more than 10 miles of hiking trails, rolling hills and two lakes. Dogs can explore this state park with you. You can see the Lincoln Boyhood National Monument, a pioneer farm, the site of Lincoln’s cabin, Abraham Lincoln’s mother’s grave, and the Twelve Rocks Historic Trail. Do you want to stay all day? You can camp at this state park! Perfect for an overnight stay.
If covered bridges remind you of the famous movie, you’ll know why Iowa is such a unique place to visit. Your dog can join you across many covered bridges in this area of Iowa. Madison County is the covered bridge capital of Iowa. This country has the largest group of covered bridges in one area! Since many of the bridges are accessible by dirt road, leave the caravan at the campsite while you explore.
After more than six years of being with pets, when I think about the place that surprises me the most, it is the Chalk Pyramid of Kansas. Many tourists don’t know about this destination but now the secret has been revealed! On the western edge of Gowe County, Kansas is Monument Rock. It is a series of large chalk formations known as the Chalk Pyramids. The dogs are on leads and you will feel like you are on another planet. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Originally from Florida, we love being at the beach! But after visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with Brickle and Digby, I now understand lake life! Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has miles of sandy beaches and cliffs rising above Lake Michigan. As with many areas, there are some beaches where dogs are not allowed, so ask the friendly park staff, get a map or look it up online. We discovered there was more to Brickley and Digby than we expected on the shores of this picturesque lake. But remember that for safety reasons dogs are not allowed in the sand dunes.
Your dog will feel as tall as Paul Bunyan when you take him to Bemidji, Minnesota! This was an interesting stop for us on our trip. Meet the giant statues of Paul Bunyan and Baby Blue Bull and get great photo opportunities. This roadside attraction has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988. Paul Bunyan’s Blue Ox Babe, built in 1937, is located on the shore of Lake Bemidji near the Tourist Information Center. After getting the best photos of your dog breed, visit nearby dog-friendly Itasca State Park. Here you can see the source of the Mississippi River, go hiking, and picnic!
Named after the park’s large sandstone cave, Indian Cave State Park borders the mighty Missouri River. Your dog will thank you for bringing him here to camp, picnic, and hike the 22-mile trail! Native American Caves are the main geological feature of this park and it features prehistoric Native American petroglyphs! We tend to stay away from big cities on RV trips because our dogs are older. But we found Gateway Arch National Park in Missouri to be the perfect balance of urban and scenic. Two iconic structures in this 91-hectare park will leave you overwhelmed. Your dog will enjoy walking in green lawns and parks, watching horses and carriages go by, and relaxing on a picnic. Leashed dogs can explore the park and stroll along the riverside trail.

Fido Friendly Getaway On The Delmarva Peninsula
Mix all the ingredients for the body and leave in a warm place for an hour. Roll out the dough and place it on a greased cast iron pan or deep pizza pan. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake the crust for 15 minutes and remove from the oven. Place cheese and toppings on top of crust and pour tomato sauce mixture on top. Return to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes. Let the dog cool completely before serving.
