Vacations Near Me With Dogs – This winter we went on another wonderful vacation in New Hampshire, with our dogs in tow. If you follow the blog regularly, you know that Waterville Valley New Hampshire is one of our favorite towns in New Hampshire, and the Waterville Valley gym is one of our favorite places in New Hampshire, especially because he is a friend to dogs! I always vacation in New Hampshire with my dog, almost every year, it’s great in every season.
We love it there, and we love the New Hampshire weather in the winter, fall and summer. We think it’s the perfect holiday for dogs! It’s weird because recently, we always go to NH in the Winter. Last summer we decided to go on a summer vacation with fresh air in the mountains and hike with our dogs, but between the wildfires in Canada and the freak floods we Not sure how long we’ll be from Florida.

Whether you want to spend time hiking in the mountains, or out on the water, they have it all. Lake Winnipesauke in New Hampshire and Lake Sunapee are just two beautiful lakes in New Hampshire. You can rent a boat and go to one of these lakes, and bring the dog! Just remember to practice good dog safety tips and put a dog collar on your pooch.
Nobody’s Perfect! Least Of All Me!
Walking in New Hampshire is wonderful. There are many trails, and it is home to the “4,000 footer”, or mountain that is more than 4,000 meters above. Mount Washington is the highest mountain in New Hampshire at 6,288 feet.
There are many ways that dogs are allowed. You will have no problem finding a dog walk in New Hampshire! Learn more at the NH State Parks Pet Friendly website. New Hampshire Magazine also has recommendations for the Best NH Dog Friendly Tours.
I encourage you to carefully consider the issues of agreeing to walk, and your dog’s walking and endurance. Most large dogs can walk 2 to 7 miles, but it varies from dog to dog. You should discuss this with your vet before embarking on a dog friendly journey.
New Hampshire is a place where transportation can be difficult. The locals have great travel skills, so what they think is easy may not be for you and your dog! Be careful and considerate when choosing your route. And always bring plenty of water for you and your dog!

One of my favorite things about Waterville Valley Resort is that they have very long, dog friendly trails. It doubles as a ski trail, which is amazing but skiers know this trail is for hikers and dogs so we didn’t see skiers on the trail. My Husky Icy loves riding these tracks! He lives on a snowy road and even though he is 14 years old, he acts like a little dog. We take a lot!
I can’t wait for it in the summer, but this summer is not good, for many reasons. He has started to lose weight and I am afraid that this year he will not be able to climb even the simplest mountain.
Here is a short video of me and my dogs crossing a bridge over a beautiful nearby stream:
Check out the Photo Keychain for animals! You can shop at my Etsy shop. It’s fun to celebrate a new pet, or remember a pet that crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I have a memory of my angel Phoebe. I love having her with me every day, seeing her beautiful face written on something I always have with me.

There aren’t many New Hampshire hotels in the area that are that friendly. It’s amazing that Waterville Valley Resort allows dogs on the grounds and on some of the trails, but their hotels don’t allow dogs!
There are many houses around the area, and many landlords rent out their properties but no one likes pets. There are a few houses around the house, but only one is friendly. It’s called Snowy Owl. We were there a year ago and it was awesome. The location is great, you can walk to all of the property including the dog walk I mentioned above. I’m glad to see it is now under new ownership, so hopefully it will be fit for purpose soon. The previous owner didn’t seem to invest in maintenance and we won’t be staying there again until some improvements are made.
A few years ago we stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, a Marriott hotel near Plymouth, New Hampshire. It’s about 20 minutes from Waterville Valley Ski Area, but it’s a great place! We love it there.
Here is a 2 minute video that I posted on YouTube that gives you an idea of how we spent our day, and the beauty of Waterville Valley New Hampshire. I think it’s a good holiday for a dog, in every season Now I have a dog, I want to take it when I go swimming! You can float with a dog in a boat anywhere. But, it is difficult to find a leash that allows dogs to climb the stairs.
Dogs On Vacation
Many years ago I used to float in a boat, but those years are long gone. The rafts are very good and friendly. You can go to a race, float in the water at the intersection while everyone is still in the boat, and you float with 3-8 friends instead of just one person. And there is no fear that you can turn around and lose something of yours.
When I got ready to plan a rafting trip this summer, I searched the internet and found some options for homeowners who want to float with their dog. Since my friends and I only go to campgrounds, my list only includes campgrounds with cabins.
Cell Service: No (camp staff directed us back to the main road where we could get AT&T and Verizon service)
Dog Rules: By law, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, although there are many loose dogs near the room. There is a $25 fee for dogs inside. There is no charge for rafting but you are responsible if the dog damages the boat.

I stayed at Bass River Resorts this summer at the Cozy Cabins. All rooms have air conditioning and heating, bathroom with shower, 2 double beds and kitchen with mini fridge, hotplate, microwave and coffee maker. The cabins are 2 to a cabin and share a deck, plus there is a fire ring and dining table in each cabin. The Cozy Cabins are divided into two sections. Those of us who live in see the river (Part 1-4). I like this place, although I don’t like how the picnic table and fire ring are on the hill. The weekend we were there it rained from the float and the campsite was a little flooded, so we chose not to sit in the grass or have a fire. It is nice to have a table where we can rest and eat. I can tell you that there are some strange people in the house where we live, maybe we went to the top of the mountain to put out the fire. Some of the Cozy Cabins are on flat ground, but they are assembled and resemble a trailer park. I don’t think I would want to be in them.
The camp office has everything you need during your stay. There is also a large balcony in the office where you can sit while checking email and Facebook via wifi.
I like this place more than anything else I’ve stayed in. After this summer I will go back to make the river flow when it rains and I have a loan to use later this year.
Dog Law: By law, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, even if dogs are free everywhere. There is no charge for dogs to stay or bring on board.

Bird’s Nest Lodge offers many services. They have cabins and tents in the campground as well as other cabins nearby. We stayed at their Meramec River Lodge 2 miles from the campground on the boat. We also signed up for their package which includes two nights accommodation, boat (what boat
