Great Dog Vacations – January makes me want to sit down in my planner and plan a bunch of travel for next year. It’s so cold and dark outside, sitting with a laptop and planning an adventure is super fun.
Even though we took a break from major international travel during the pandemic, we’ve enjoyed reacquainting ourselves with the Seattle area and all of its wonderful (and dog!) weekends. After living in New York and Chicago for ten years, it’s been so fun to return and rediscover old favorite vacation spots, as well as see all the innovative new places, luxury hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have popped up here. And what I loved most was seeing how many dog-friendly options there are for your stay. I’m much happier when we can go on holiday with Dave and Lizzie.

Grab your best friend and experience the magic of wine at one of our favorite resorts in the area. We have been running Sagecliffe Weekends since 2015. and it has certainly never disappointed. Captain Whidbey is my 2022. top of the best list. With recent appearances in publications like Vogue, this beautifully renovated historic inn is popping up all over my Instagram feed and I can’t wait to go. Walla Walla is one of the best wine regions in the country, with over 120 wineries, and I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve been bookmarking this modern city center hotel for a while now because it seems like a great base camp for a ski weekend or wine weekend. Or both! The Best Dog-friendly Holidays In The Uk In 2024
We’ve written in the past about how much we love Tiny Getaway Homes and are looking for a new place in the Skagit Valley. They’re a great way to escape into nature when it’s hot and dry. And how wonderful is that branded window next to the bed? Dogs are allowed for a fee – details here.
Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with those waterfront fire pits. Although this Oregon Coast cabin is a bit far from Seattle, its beautiful modern interior and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean are worth the trip. Dogs up to 25 pounds are welcome in select rooms – see here for details.
My New Year’s resolution is to book a dream cabin in St. Edward as soon as possible, which should be easy since it’s only a half hour drive outside of town. This historic seminary has been renovated into a luxurious and elegant venue located on 326 acres of trails right on Lake Washington. Plus, unwind after a day of exploring with a trip to their spa or Pacific Northwest cuisine at Cedar + Elm. Details about the dog here.
In January 2020. we had a fantastic weekend at The Lodges on Vashon and wrote about it here and the memories stayed with me through the first few months of closure. These 570-square-foot designer rooms include amenities like private patios, fireplaces, and soaking tubs. They also make a great base camp for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hiking trails. Nine of the sixteen cabins are dog friendly. It’s been a dream of mine to stay in one of these Instagram-famous A-rams for way too long, and I’m determined to make it happen this year. Tie River Cabin Co. offers three beautiful A-frame cabins located on Mt. In the heart of the National Forest. Baker-Snoqualmie and all three are pet friendly for a fee. Word to the wise, getting a reservation can be difficult considering each of their amazing Insta posts gets thousands of likes. Pet information is listed under each cabin information.
In 2019 we spent a happy Easter weekend in Semiahmoo and I was looking for an opportunity to return to the breathtaking views and remote beach that Lizzie loved to explore. Just steps from the Canadian border, this tranquil resort is the perfect base camp for great hikes and incredibly scenic views of Washington’s North Coast. They are extremely dog-friendly and puppies are welcome with their own bowls, kennels and (at least during our visit) souvenirs. Details about the dog here.
Take a trip back in time by staying in one of these vintage trailers in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? They are located in Willamette Wine Country. Trailers come equipped with pour-over coffee, luxury linens, and plush bathrobes. Puppies are allowed in the Shasta trailer, see here for more information.
Anacortes is one of my favorite out-of-town trips. Drive an hour and a half north of Seattle to this beautiful seaside town full of charming shops, delicious cafes, and water views. (Watermark Book Co. is one of my favorite bookstores in DC!) We love The Majestic, a very upscale pub in town, for its cozy rooms and amazing rooftop bar. See their full puppy policy here.
The Best Dog Friendly Beaches In Cornwall
I love a unique getaway and Rolling Huts of Winthrop certainly delivers. These tiny homes were designed by Seattle-based Olson Kundig Architects as a modern alternative to camping. Go hiking or just relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain views. Their listing on Hotels.com has a pet policy listed under Fees & Policies.
This luxury resort on Hood Canal has been welcoming pups since 1913, and we can believe it by offering a full menu of Fido services. Remember to rent kayaks, hike the trails, or just enjoy the view. Read The Dog’s Son here.
OK, this isn’t technically available yet, but we signed up for notifications to receive a reservation as soon as these beautiful campers are released in Olympic National Park. They offer comfort to animals beyond conventional camping, while providing a secluded and sustainable way to access nature. Two Washington locations will be opening soon, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we can get reservations for this summer. Their pet policy is here in the FAQ section.
I’m obsessed with the gorgeous new Water’s Edge Suites at this historic inn on Orcas Island, complete with balconies overlooking the bay. I can already see myself curled up there with a book. If you haven’t heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We have stayed with them twice (we wrote about them here in Vermont and on a trip to Maine) and each trip has been wonderful. Basically, they set up luxury safari tents on exclusive tracts of private land, like this beautiful fruit farm near Meade, Washington. You can also pay a little extra to have one of their fruit cakes delivered or some of their farm fresh and delicious free range eggs. Find out more about Tentrr’s puppy policy here.
Sure, Idaho is a bit of a drive from Seattle, but we’d drive almost any distance to stay at this huge lookout. Plus, little things like the sauna and vintage coffee grinder really melt my heart. Pets are allowed, but judging by the stairway entrance, you may have to decide whether this would be a fun vacation for you
